Grant takes Rose Road over half way towards emergency respite fundraising target

We are really grateful to have received a grant of £3,500 from law firm Womble Bond Dickinson to fund emergency respite nights for children and young people with disabilities.

Our 15-bedroom facility - 'Oaks & Acorns' - for children and adults with complex physical and learning disabilities, is a safe, homely and fun place to stay, where the needs of each young person are assessed individually to create a personalised care plan that delivers the best support.

Head of Overnight Respite at Rose Road, Tina Fullbrook, says: “Emergency respite is vital for families, especially those reaching crisis point.

We have supported families through bereavement, families who have no other means of support and families who are at crisis point and need additional help. With this funding we can ensure their young person is safe and well looked after while they take the time they need to overcome whatever difficult situation they’re facing.

It ensures Rose Road can be flexible and responsive to those who need us, when they need us”.

Toni Davis, mum to 16-year old Jamey-Lee, said: “They’ve made it possible for me to go on holiday, to attend my cousin’s wedding, which I would have been really sad to miss, but also they gave me the time I needed to grieve when I lost a close friend through a package of emergency respite nights for Jay that weren’t part of our funding. When I needed extra help, they were there without hesitation; I call Rose Road my heroes”.

Grants towards emergency respite are vital to enable Rose Road to support to families outside of their statutory provision. This year we need to raise £80,000 to fulfil the demand we’re seeing for this essential service.

We are incredibly grateful to Womble Bond Dickinson for their grant, which has helped us get to 57% of this important target.

Sally Dallow, Partner Lead for Responsible Business from Womble Bond Dickinson, commented: “Supporting organisations like Rose Road is at the heart of our commitment to empowering charities to create meaningful change. Through the Womble Bond Dickinson Foundation’s grant giving scheme, we aim to provide vital support to charitable organisations aligned with our key themes and areas of focus, helping them deliver positive impact in our local communities where it’s needed most. We’re proud that our contribution has helped Rose Road move closer to its fundraising target, ensuring children and young people with disabilities, and their families, receive the support and care they deserve.”

If any other organisations would like to make a difference to more families like Toni’s by helping us to achieve this vital fundraising goal, please get in touch with us at fundraising@roseroad.org.uk.
