Rose Road's Carol Service 2020

Usually, the second to last Tuesday before Christmas is a very special day for Rose Road.

Usually, we would be looking forward to a beautiful evening kindly hosted by Winchester College, our Carols by Candlelight Service.

Usually, the Bishop of Southampton would be preparing to join us, our readers would be busy practising and the amazing Waynflete Singers would be rehearsing ready to lead us through the Carols.

Usually our children, young people and staff would be getting excited for the singing (and worrying a little about the traffic and making it on time!) and Juno would be busy writing her words for her speech.

Usually, our fundraising team would be printing the orders of service and covering collection buckets in tinsel.

But 2020 isn’t a usual year, and sadly none of those things are happening today. However, we didn’t feel that we could let the very special ‘second to last Tuesday’ go unmarked, so we’re really pleased to announce the launch of our 2020 Christmas Carol Service video. With huge thanks to; The Rt Revd Debbie Sellin, Bishop of Southampton, Heather Aspinall, Winchester Cathedral Choir, Winchester Cathedral, The Waynflete Singers, Winchester College Chapel Choir, Clare Talks and all at Winchester College, and Herald AV Publications.

So pour yourself a mulled wine, crack open the mince pies (and maybe the pocket tissues) and spend 10 minutes reflecting with us on what has probably been our most unusual, emotional and difficult year ever. But also our most rewarding. We hope that by going online this year even more of our supporters and families can join us.

The service is free to enjoy and we hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year, we send all of our love and thoughts for the season. If you’re able to and would like to donate please visit our Christmas Campaign Page.
