We are really sad to announce the recent passing of our Ambassador and dear friend Jan Peirson. Jan has dedicated over 20 years to Rose Road and the disabled children and young people that we support. We will be forever grateful for all that she has done.
Jan began supporting Rose Road while working at the Southern Daily Echo back in the late 1990’s, while we were raising funds to build the Bradbury Centre. Jan’s continued support and enthusiasm for Rose Road since then has been extra ordinary, and her hard work has made a huge difference to the lives of thousands of disabled children and young people across our region.
Jan’s regular schedule of fundraising events have not only raised over £75,000 for Rose Road over the years, but they have also become much loved events in the Sholing Community.
Jan and her wonderful army of volunteers have run countless coffee mornings, fashion shows, open garden events, stalls and table top sales over the years. The funds raised through these events have funded a host of equipment and projects at Rose Road over the years, including:
Until very recently Jan would think nothing of baking 20 cakes in an evening, churning out pot after pot of amazing chutneys and jams and collecting together 10s of raffle prizes, hundreds of bottles, and armfuls of amazing donations in order to fundraise for Rose Road. It was all in a days work for her!
Jan had the most amazing ability to bring people together, and a wonderful and natural way of explaining to people the importance of our work and why they should support us. A true force to be reckoned with, Jan was hard working, unbelievably passionate and completely dedicated.
We have so many wonderful memories of Jan over the years, and during this most difficult time we will all be holding these close. We are forever grateful for having Jan as part of our Rose Road family.
