Play PM – a fantastic after school club, come and join the fun..!

Young people with disabilities face many difficulties in accessing the opportunities to meet up, and try new activities such as sport, arts and crafts, games or cooking. The principle aims for Play PM are the widening of access and the range of activities available to the young people who attend the Club – and have lots of fun!

All the young people who attend Play PM are risk assessed and join other young people on alternate weeks according to their needs. Week one is for those young people with severe physical disabilities, and week two is for young people with severe learning disabilities and/or autism. This enables the group to operate safely in the knowledge that those young people who attend are an appropriate group mix with activities tailored according to the skills and abilities of those attending.

We have a minimum ratio of one member of staff to every two children but depending on the needs of the child however this can sometimes be one-to-one to ensure every child is involved and stimulated.

We have doubled the number of volunteers who assist with the running and delivery of Play PM. Our volunteer programme promotes community engagement, understanding and inclusion. Ensuring more people are aware of the issues linked to disability as well as breaking down barriers and misconceptions. If you’re interested in volunteering please visit the relevant section on our website.

One mother said “My daughter really loves Play PM, she likes to see the friends she has made and it keeps her active and interacting socially. The club also is very important to me as it gives me time with my other children and I know she is having a great time.”

There is a small charge for each session with Rose Road providing support - If you’d like more information about Play PM and if your child could attend, or any of our other playschemes, please email servicesadmin@roseroad.org.uk or call the Community Team on 023 8072 1221 for an initial discussion.
